Speakers from the above countries inform us about sheep, wool and local conditions.
·
Arts and crafts exhibitions will be held demonstrating a variaty of wool and other sheep products. It will be exciting to learn and see what people are working on, not least here in Iceland, where much progress is evident.
·
We will visit the wool factory Ístex in Mosfellsbær Town, the wool and crafts centre Ullarselið at Hvanneyri and the Thingborg crafts centre in Flói. In the Blönduós area we visit sheep roundups and at least one typical sheep farm. The historically well know and unique church at Thingeyrar will be on our programme as well as visits to the adjacent district of Skagafjörður where we will see the Tannery Guesthouse and the Kakalaskáli Cottage.
A detailed, final programme will be distributed in due course but we would like to hear as soon as convenient from those interested in taking part.
Overseas participants will travel in a bus with a guide from Reykjavík City on 4 September to Blönduós Town and return on 8 September via the central highlands where Icelandic sheep graze during the summer.
